Pirates version 1.2
by: tradmin
2007-10-05 20:46:22

From BF2 Pirates

Ahoy, all eyes and ears! Since the release of our open beta two weeks ago, our crew has been spending plenty time below-deck, fixing up the unforeseen issues and bugs that many have encountered. Today, we're happy to announce the first update for Battlefield Pirates 2; our witty and creative naming committee has dubbed it as version 1.2 (spoiler: 1.1 was an internal build).

This major overhaul not only features a range of bug fixes, including for the notorious crash issues, but also introduces a couple new treats to our swashbuckling mod. In addition, the developers have done their magic and have been able to reduce the file size as well as fix the broken maps, delivering a more stable game for all pirates out on the Seven Seas. Here is how you grab the update:

BFP2 1.2 can be downloaded from multiple websites, including, but not limited to, FilePlanet, FileFront, and Wolf. The total download size for BFP2 1.2 is 351 MB. Please notice, that 1.2 is not a patch, instead it is a full installer. Therefore, it is vital that you uninstall the previous version of BFP2 from your hard drive.

Need help in installing Pirates? Want a quick overview of the classes and kits? See our fresh Player's Manual! Here are step-by-step instructions, too:

(1) If you have played BFP2 before, uninstall the previous version via Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Battlefield Pirates 2 - Release 1.0 or delete the /bfp2 folder on your hard drive, typically located at C:Program FilesEA GamesBattlefield 2mods
(2) Pick a mirror and download the installer to a place on your computer you can remember. When the download is finished, go to this folder and double-click on the installer.
(3) Follow the on-screen instructions. When the installer prompts for an installation location, make sure it points to your Battlefield 2mods folder.
(4) To play, you need to activate BFP2. Please see this Wiki article for detailed instructions.
(5) Start plundering!

  • Fix: Removed additional unnecessary content, resulting in a smaller mod file size of 351 MB
  • Fix: Black Beards Atoll now works
  • Fix: Rebuilt static barrel to fix any problems it was causing
  • Fix: Networking-related CTDs corrected
  • Fix: Zipline-related CTDs corrected
  • Fix: Some sounds that were not working in 1p/3p now do
  • Fix: Localization issues causing flag names to not appear correctly in game messages
  • Change: Lightmapped Dead Calm ships now have shadows from sunlight
  • Change: New deviation components and crosshairs added to all weapons
  • Change: Loadout changes to some kits
  • Change: Increased the damage of the cutlass slightly
  • Change: Small tweaks to the sniper rifle
  • Change: Material damaging system overhauled
  • Change: Reverted to raw BF2 Python

Map Pack and 1.6 Patch Coming

Map Pack and v1.6 Patch coming!!!

Great news! Heads up that the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack sponsored by NVIDIA will be available worldwide for our PC players on June 5th!

NVIDIA is making it possible for PC players to download the map pack for Free on the PC thanks to their sponsorship. In addition, expect to see quite a few promotions popping up leading up to the launch of the map packs on the 5th and beyond. I know NVIDIA has a lot of great things planned for PC users in addition to maps becoming available.

There’s going to be some PC specific previews going up online this weekend I believe that will cover how well the maps play on the PC version as well as some contests and promotions happening all next week. I’ll be posting up details on them as they get started all this week!

The Variety Map Pack includes four new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer including Broadcast, Chinatown, Killhouse, and Creek.

In addition to the map pack hitting, PC Players will be receiving the 1.6 Patch for the PC version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that will add support for the new maps, fix a server crash exploit recently reported by the community, and a few additional features / bug fixes.

The maps can be seen on GameTrailers.com

Battlefield 1943 Exceeds all expectations

As many of you are no doubt aware, Battlefield 1943 was released yesterday (July 8th) on the Xbox 360 gaming console. The game is only available for purchase by download through the online Xbox Live Marketplace.

Where you can buy Battlefield 1943.

The launch of the game went through as planned, and players around the world were able to download the game for the very reasonable price of 1200 Microsoft points. This is approximately 15 United States Dollars or 13 Euros or 10 British Pounds.

The Battlefield 1943 game launch was a massive success. Actually, it was too big of a success. So many players downloaded the game on its release day, that the Battlefield 1943 servers quickly reached their server capacity. As a result some eager players were locked out of the game. Even those players lucky enough to be in a server experienced laggy gameplay.

Luckily, Electronic Arts quickly realized this issue and took steps to correct it. Starting mid-day in the United States yesterday, teams of Electronic Arts employees began working around the clock to add additional Battlefield 1943 servers. Where these emergency servers came from, and whether or not they were "borrowed" from another game is unknown.

What EA needs.

One of the more prominent Battlefield 1943 developers, Gordon Van Dyke, recently had issued the following statement addressing the problem,

We are working to increase our server capacity to almost double what it is currently. This will be complete today West Coast time.

The facts don't lie; Battlefield 1943 has only been out for one day and the number of game servers has already more than doubled. The game will obviously be a huge success looking forward. Hopefully the Playstation 3 launch today will be smoother.

Moving Web Servers

If the site is acting weird its because of the move. When issues arise then I will try to take care of them as quickly as possible. The only thing is I don't know "exactly" when this move will take place. Lets just say between now and a year from now. Any questions just shoot a PM or email to me.
